The city of Bariloche is one of Argentina’s classic tourist hubs. Located in Patagonia’s Lake District amongst stunning scenery and the highest mountains in the region, the list of things to do here is endless. Bariloche offers opportunities for adventurous mountain sports, including skiing in winter and hiking in summer, as well as relaxing on lake beaches, excellent fishing and boating and delicious cuisine - always with perfect views. The town has a well developed tourist infrastructure and first-rate facilities. The two nearby villages of San Martin de los Andes and Villa La Angostura offer a relaxed and cozy atmosphere with alpine-style architecture and impressive scenery. Bariloche is the ideal location to hold product launches and other business related events.

Best time to go

Bariloche has become an all-season destination with plenty to do in both the warm summer months, as well as the cooler, snowy winters. November to April is fly-fishing season, as well as the best time of year for summer activities such as mountain biking, hiking, rafting and kayaking. The fall (April - May) is a lovely time to visit Bariloche for scenery when the trees turn a fiery red and auburn. Winter (July to early September) is ski season and tourists come from all over South America to hit the slopes.

Climate

Patagonian summers are short and dry. January and February are the warmest months, with high temperatures averaging at 22ºC. This drops to lows of 6ºC during the night, so it is important to bring warm clothing even during the summer. Winters are long and the coldest months of the year are June, July and August, when highs average 7ºC and lows -6ºC.

From Buenos Aires: Bariloche is located 1650Km south-west of Buenos Aires. Flight time is 2:15 Hrs direct. Three airlines fly this route daily (Aerolineas Argentinas, LAN Argentina and LADE) departing from Aeroparque airport (Domestic). The airport in Bariloche is only 15 km away from the town center.

From El Calafate: Aerolíneas Argentinas has a direct flight from El Calafate to Bariloche (daily).
