Rio de Janeiro, otherwise known as ‘The Marvelous City’, is without a doubt one of the world’s most impressive destinations. Stretched between jungle-covered mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, it is a city of long golden beaches and an exuberant cultural life.

The city offers a wide range of entertainment options including spending the day on a private schooner cruise around Rio’s tropical Islands, visiting some of the best diving and fishing locations along the coast or dining on a private island while your group is entertained by a specially selected show.

Other options include taking an exhilarating helicopter tour offering spectacular aerial views of the most famous Rio landmarks, such as the statute of Christ the Redeemer, Copacabana beach and Sugarloaf Mountain, or hiking in Tijuca Forest, the largest urban forest in the world. In the evening the group can enjoy a delicious seafood meal in one of Rio’s most prestigious restaurants and visit Lapa, the nightlife district of Rio, filled with live music bars and samba clubs.

Best time of the year to go

Rio de Janeiro has plenty to offer visitors throughout the year. Summer and winter are considered high season while fall and spring are considered intermediate season, meaning there is no low season at any time of year. Winters are very mild with temperatures that rarely drop below 18 degrees. For many inhabitants of Rio, winter is the best time of the year. In summer humidity increases which produces higher temperatures.

Rainy Season

During the summer (December to March) the weather is warm and humid. In winter temperatures drop, but the climate remains pleasant. The annual average temperature is above 20 º C.

Flights

Two airports allow access to Rio. The Antônio Carlos Jobim International Airport of Rio de Janeiro (“Galeão”), at 20 km from downtown, receives flights from all the largest Brazilian and foreign cities. The Santos Dumont Airport, located at Guanabara Bay near downtown, is used only for domestic flights.
